FADE IN:
EXT - PLAYGROUND - DAY
Sun shines through the trees, it lightens the ground, so green, filled with the sounds of happiness, joys and cheers.
Few kids run with balloons written 'Happy 1997~' in hands, chasing each other. No doubt at all.
Some riding bicycle, some jogging, how peaceful.
KATHERINE
Ok boy, but not too far!
KATHERINE, a chinese lady in her late 30s, black curly short hair. No any make-up on her face though, she still looks beautiful, like an angel. She looks into a pair of innocent eyes, worries.
XIAN JUN
(grins)
Ok!
XIAN JUN, a 5 years old little boy, short hair, smiling in front of his mom, Katherine. As he goes, she walks to dessert stall to buy a couple of ice-creams, both chocolate flavour. She seeks for money in her pockets, the ice-cream in her left hand melts slowly. At the same time, a hand appears beside her, a strong one, quite hairy as well, holding two ringgit notes in its palm. YONG SOON, a chinese guy, about 40s, gentleman, casual attire, takes over another chocolate ice-cream, smiling next to Katherine. She looks at him, her sparkling eyes under the sun, we feel love.
KATHERINE
Your son is playing there.
Xian Jun is running here and there, chasing some other kids, laughing innocently, happily and blissfully. Yong Soon smirks, holds her hand tight, and they stroll toward their kid. A couple of birds hovering up above the sky. A couple of fishes roving in the pond. Under the hot sun a couple of chocolate ice-creams melting, at least, it is not alone.
How peaceful.
How peaceful.
